Dr. Erica Blatt is a naturalist and environmental education specialist with over 24 years of post-college experience. She founded EcoEducate in 2017, and has been working for the last few years on the development of the Eco-Mindfulness concept and curriculum.
Erica Blatt has a PhD in Environmental Education with a Specialty in Curriculum Development and Instruction from the University of New Hampshire. She also has a Masters in Secondary Science Education from the University of Pennsylvania. She has worked as a professor of Science and Environmental Education at Rowan University and the College of Staten Island, CUNY. She has also taught high school Biology and Environmental Science in a number of diverse settings, and has been an outdoor educator at the Pocono Environmental Education Center, worked for Wilderness Ventures leading trips in the Pacific Northwest of the US, and the Appalachian Mountain Club in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. She has also published several articles and presented at many conferences in the field of Environmental Education research (see Curriculum Vitae below). In addition, Erica has spent extensive time traveling to intriguing places on six continents (all except Antarctica) working on organic farms, studying different cultures, and conducting research. She brings these global perspectives into her work whenever possible.
Erica has completed her certification in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) with Palouse Mindfulness, and is an active member of the Palouse community. She has spent several years using mindfulness meditation and Nature to guide her own process of healing from trauma and anxiety. Erica has combined her unique set of experiences into the development of the Eco-Mindfulness concept and curriculum, and continues with this creative process through her teaching of the Mindfulness in Nature classes.
